Are you looking for an agent?

Here’s one of those dreaded actor questions: Do you have an agent?

After taking a quick poll of our Instinctive Actors’ Society, it seems like about half of you are either currently looking for an agent, or you have one, but you aren’t happy with them.

And it can be very stressful; if you don’t have an agent, you don’t have access to auditions, and you have to put in a lot of hustle for yourself when you want to be focused on your acting instead. I understand it can feel very unprofessional to not be represented, and it is a crucial part of acting in this industry.

So then what do you do when you don’t have one?

Frantically call every agency hoping for a meeting? Send out mass mailings for your headshots? Hang your head and cry? No, no and no. ;)

Believe it or not, there are actions you can take to help set yourself up to find an awesome agent that’s right for you.

When you watch my free training, you’ll discover that...

  1. I want to use my favorite analogy: Imagine you’re a baker, and you know that there are a hundred million other bakeries out in the world. If you want to start selling bread and make a living at it, you need to bake your best, most unique and extraordinary tasting bread, right? Or else, you’re not going to be selling much.

I want you to have the same mindset about acting. As an actor, you're selling your instrument, your talent. That’s your bread, so to speak. If your talent is not 100% what it can be, if you’re still struggling with resistance, energy blocks and fears, if you cannot be in the moment consistently and freely, your “bread” is not going to sell. Why? Because it's not the best you have to offer, and casting directors and producers are going to seek out other actors who are sharing their unique and extraordinary talent instead.

  1. Take responsibility for your part of the equation. Instead of worrying or complaining that you cannot book work because you don’t have an agent, recognize the root cause. Are you sharing your totally free and authentic talent? Is your instrument completely open, alive and consistent, or are you still struggling with resistance?

  2. You have the power over your instrument, and it’s possible to muscle up your instinct and experience an open, fully expressed, authentic version of yourself. Start here before you work on your material, like your reel, your headshots or an agent search. You need to have your best bread ready before you start to sell it.

  3. Then you can start reaching out to agent because you have something to offer that no one else can; you’re the secret ingredient to your success. No one is like you, and that is your power.
