There are 2 different types of rustiness.
1) You’re rusty, aware of it and doing something about it.
2) You’re not aware and discover that you can’t deliver what’s required in an audition or on-set.
So maybe your instrument is rusty because you haven’t been working enough and now you feel a ‘gap’. You know you’re talented but it feels like an uphill battle when you’re in front of the camera.
That’s not fun.
The truth is, you’re rusty not because you’re not working. Being rusty is not the problem. It’s just a consequence.
What’s happening underneath the rust…
When you watch my training you'll discover that you’re rusty because your level of commitment or passion is not as important as it could be.
If you’re really INTERESTED in storytelling and defending characters, you’re working non-stop. You’re creating content and opportunities for you to be acting all the time. Paid or unpaid.
If you’re trying to be INTERESTING, i.e. you’re waiting for the phone to ring with an opportunity, then you’re not committed. You’re just hungry to get picked and feel validated.
If you’ve made a decision to be an actor, then your responsibility is in your power to do something about it. When you’re committed to the world of storytelling and characters, you will not stop working. That energy you generate will pay off. People want to be around that energy.
If you stay in the victim mindset waiting to be picked, not only are you not generating content, your energy is not attractive. You’re stuck in your ego wanting to take what you can get, instead of giving.
Which one works better for you?
Usually people stay in the interestING lane when they’re hiding and not fully sharing their instrument because they have resistance that prevents them from being open. Once their instrument is reset, nothing stops them. Theyre like a child at a playground, playing for hours on end.
Actors in our community have worked through their blocks and what they’ve been able to do afterwards is limitless. When you are your authentic and untethered self, you’re unstoppable. And people want to work with people like that.
