Are You Second Guessing Your Choices In Your Auditions?

You may get your sides and feel really excited about it because you have an audition. You may feel ready because you’ve trained a lot and you may start working on it. Then, you make your first choice and it feels good. But soon afterwards, you may feel the doubt creep in. You may ask yourself questions like: “Is this the best choice?”, “Will they like it?”, “Will another actor make a better choice than mine?” or “Should I make another choice instead?”. Inevitably, that may make you leave that solidness and intuition you had with your character, get in a very unfulfilling zone and connect to an outside authority.

That can be really frustrating since in the beginning, you were excited to act and defend your character’s needs. But little by little, you lose that because you second guess your choices. And the bigger the audition, the more doubtful you feel.

When you watch my training below you will discover that in order to fix this, you may have tried to go from acting class to acting class and look for better mentors, hoping that you will find the “right” one that will make them like you. Of course, that never happens because what’s really happening is that in your childhood at school and then in your acting school, you’ve been conditioned to disconnect from yourself, repress your emotions and behaviors and distrust your instinct so you could trust and please external authorities instead; whether they were your parents, your teacher or the casting director. So when you make your choices for an audition, the second thing you’ll do is to distrust them.

When you're caught in that loop of second guessing your choices, the work to do is not to go to another acting class to hope to fix that; but to undo that conditioning so you can go back to your truth, soul, heart and uniqueness. There’s no acting method that is needed by you. You don’t need to improve yourself, but to spit out everything that has been shoved down your throat against your will since you were little.
