Do You Need To Train Your Instrument Every Day?

You may think that you should train a lot as an actor since there is so much competition and you want to be the best in order to be chosen. There are even legends implying you have to train at least 10 years before you can consider yourself a true actor.

Therefore, you may have taken many classes, read a lot of books, worked with the best acting teachers out there. You may also be training hard every day in order to be “perfect” or to “improve”.

However, you may have experienced that none of that has worked. In other words, when you audition or tape, you may have not experienced the fulfillment that you would love to feel when you act and you may not be booking and getting the roles that you want.

When you watch my training below you will discover that any teacher out there will tell you that you need to learn and continue to learn acting. But acting is the art of being fully alive, present and authentic. It is about reminding the audience of what having a human experience is like. But if in your life, you are not able to show up completely alive and express what you have in your heart; the direct consequence as an actor is that you will not be able to show up alive in your acting because you do not have access to the full version of yourself. Makes sense?

Consequently, you will do what you think is “right”, avoid what is “wrong” and follow rules rather than make your own choices. This happens because we are raised and conditioned by school, parenting and culture to follow what the authority says is “right”. The opportunity here is for you to undo that conditioning so that you can show up completely truthful, instinctive and free in your life, and therefore, in your career.

The answer to the question about having to train every day is “yes” and “no”. On the one hand, you do not need to learn anything about acting. All kids can act and they have never been to an acting workshop. They do not need to train with any acting technique. On the other hand, you need to train every day to be and live from your own truth and freedom. That is exactly the work we do in the Reset Journey: for 33 days you undo all conditioning and come back to your freedom and truth. You do not learn anything, but go back to being your true self with your innate instinct.

Watch my training below to hear all my thoughts on this topic.
