“If only someone would give me a chance, everything would change!”
I chose this topic because there’s a lot of people who are asking for HELP - to get an agent, meet CD’s, to be given a chance etc. I understand you might feel like this industry is difficult to get into and you just need someone to give you a shot.
But here’s the truth: where you’re at right now is what people are trusting you with. So if you have an agent who’s sending you out for auditions at a particular level, that is what they SEE you for. Your responsibility is making sure people SEE your talent. When someone opens your reel, irrespective of the quality of production, do they go “OMG who is this actor??? I want them RIGHT NOW!”.
Trusting is giving away your power. Your job is to have an EXCEPTIONAL talent - an instrument so alive and free it’s UNDENIABLE. When they see that, then they run after you. When they don’t see that then you run after them. You dont want someone to trust your talent, you want them to SEE your talent in your headshots, reel, auditions, etc. The industry’s job is to see who’s appropriate for what kind of role and what weight they can lift. If you can’t lift a whole project you shouldn’t be in it.
When you watch my trining you'll discover that if you want someone to give you the opportunities you deserve… that is not the mindset you want as an artist. You want your presence to create opportunities.
What we do is take care of the resistances that are blocking you from your full talent. When actors do that work, they show up in auditions with an instrument that is so present and full of life that it makes people go “Wow! I’m gonna rewrite this small role into a bigger one for you.” That’s how you make opportunities!
Your power is to bring extraordinary life to what is written. When you have that down, people want you. CD’s spend weeks sorting through gems to find the “hot stuff” - raw, open, life that is professional and reliable.
It really saddens me to see actors take the position where they’re powerless and they feel little in a big industry. The industry is what it is. If you show up with your A-game, then you’re the only one they can see. Not because you're better but because there’s only one version of you. There’s no competition when you’re fully 100% instinctive and free.
When you can be PROFESSIONALLY ALIVE & ON-COMMAND, you will work. Opportunities will come to you.
It’s time to realise where your power is. You need to undo all the conditioning and wiring and get back to your core.
