How Your Conditioning Is Limiting Your Career And Acting Experience

You may feel limited as an actor when you act on set or when you audition. For example, when you have to perform a scene with intense emotions… You may not feel fully expressed, instinctive, open and in the moment. You may not be able to root for the character. Instead, you may feel concerned about the result of your performance, have some doubts or get really nervous.

Regarding your acting career, you may feel like it is not working. You are not getting the results that you want or you do not feel fulfilled. You may see that you are booking and doing the job “right”, the director likes what you do… But, you are not changing anyone else’s world. This can be a really sticky feeling since you are passionate about your art and you chose it to fulfill yourself.

You may have tried to fix this situation by taking a lot of acting classes, reading a lot of books, meeting your acting gurus or trying method after method. And after all that, you may think that you have limiting beliefs and that is why you cannot be fully you in the present moment.

When you watch my training below you will discover that the root of every limiting belief that you are feeling inside of yourself is your CONDITIONING. You were raised as a child to be dependent on your parents for survival. They told you how to feel, think and behave. For instance, when you were crying, your caregivers would probably held you in their arms and told you not to cry or be afraid. You learnt to limit your feelings in order to please them, get their love and attention. This is where your “people-pleasing” mechanisms come from.

Later on you went to School. You were forced to adapt your thinking, attitude and speech to what your teacher wanted. You were asked to be quiet, to sit down and ask to go to the toilet. If you did not do this, you would be punished or shamed publicly. As a child, you took that as truth. You started modifying your thinking, needs, emotions and behaviors. All of that is YOUR conditioning.

Later on, when you became an actor, you perceived the director or casting director as your authority. So inevitably you are going to limit your emotions. You will adapt your performance to what you think they want so you can please them. And this is why you feel limited.

The work to do is to undo that “CONDITIONING” and “PEOPLE PLEASING” mechanisms so you can show up unlimited and be the full version of yourself. The way of feeling fulfilled.
