Why are you procrastinating? If we don’t look at the root, real cause of why we put off training or marketing in our acting career, we won’t know why we procrastinate. We have to be open to what’s actually going on. Some actors think there are a bunch of different reasons and they start trying different technique classes or taking new headshots but that’s all surface stuff that may feel good in the moment. It doesn’t last because none of that goes to the real, deep-down cause of your resistance. There’s only one thing going on and one strategy to address it.
When we postpone dealing with things, we just add to the overwhelm which makes us feel constantly tired and stressed-out. We’re actually self-sabotaging and emotionally hurting ourselves because we’re proving to ourselves a lack of integrity. We’re building an inconsistent relationship with ourselves where we’re losing our self-respect because we know we won’t show up for ourselves. The cost of postponing what’s essential to you sucks the life out of you.
You can’t bring life to a character if life has already been drained out of you.
