Maybe you’re always being cast in the same, clichéd role. Or maybe you’re always supporting the main story but you’re never the leading role.
And you end up being put in a box.
Your race, looks, body shape, accent etc can impact your type. So casting directors only see you for these roles and you’re not being offered the depth of roles that allow you to expand as an artist.
You might find yourself growing frustrated and even bitter by this.
First of all, let’s look at WHY you’re being typecast and go beyond the idea that there’s an injustice in the industry, of which you are the victim.
Let’s take some responsibility and look at what you CAN do…
When you watch my training you'll discover, that when you’re being typecast, you’re being categorized by what the industry sees. They don’t see the depth behind your first level of connection.
Why do they perceive you without any depth? Because casting gets from your material a certain level of capacity of your instrument.
What makes your material, i.e headshot and reel, be one-layered? Your instrument! If your instrument is shallow, these typecastings are an invitation for your to realize that there’s a huge depth in your instrument that you haven’t accessed yet.
You’re only in touch with the surface-level of your instrument and not the fact that you can be everything.
You want to get to know the dept of your instrument so you know you can be everything and it’s opposite. If you don’t, you’ll be stuck with what people see on the surface.
And that’s not why you’re an actor, is it.
In order to get those parts, you need to bring in your whole humanity. You need to be fully alive. If you can’t reach extremities within you because you’re blocked or experience resistance, there’s no way anyone else can see that in you.
In the work we do, we invite actors to work through those layers of resistances that prevent you from being in connection. You need to be deeper. You already are. You just need to work through what is preventing you from living inside your depth.
We wake up your instinct that’s been living dormant and from that place, you show up differently in your materials, auditions, on-set… Everything about you changes and people can see what you’re capable of.
