You have taken all the acting classes but it still hurts when you act. WHY?

You may have spent a lot of time taking acting classes and studying with all the mentors, and yet when you act, you still feel the pain, whether it's at the stage of learning your lines, opening up to big emotions or connecting with your character. This pain may show up at very different levels, whether you’re at the beginning of your acting career or you’ve been working for a long time.

When you have big auditions and opportunities, you may feel stress, fear of rejection, censorship, toughness on yourself, blocks in your voice or in your jaw. And this can be really frustrating, since as actors you may want to feel the joy and bliss of being another person, defend your characters’ needs and impact an audience.

Therefore, you may think that you’re not good enough and that you need to fix yourself to get better. So you may consider taking another class, method or mentor so that they can change that.

But the reason why this feels so painful is not because you need another class, obviously. When you watch my training below you'll dicover that what's happening is that the more you study acting methods and techniques; the more you learn how to do it “right”; the more you focus on the outcome, on doing a “good job”, booking and pleasing; and, therefore, the more you walk away from you and what you have to offer in a free, authentic and fully alive self, which is your job description and what casting directors are dreaming of.

We’ve been raised in a society where we had to go to school and where we were told we didn’t know anything, so there were people that had to teach us the “right” way to do things. But there isn’t a right way, especially not in art. It’s your own, unique way that matters.

Acting is the art of being fully alive. It's about what it means to be human, so there's nothing to learn.

The work to do is to unlearn your conditioning so you can go back to your pure, authentic, free and alive self. That’s what you have to offer and what makes you stand out. When you’re uniquely yourself, people can resonate and connect with your work as an artist, because then you’re connected to yourself. However, when you’re connected to a method or technique, people can’t connect to you, because you’re not there.

Watch my training to hear all my thoughts on this topic.
