Are you an actor or are you an artist?

When most actors begin working with me, it’s not their first rodeo, so to speak. 😉 They have trained quite a bit and say, “Jo, I know how to act, but I’m still hitting this wall I have to push through…”

Even with all the classes and workshops completed, the techniques and methods they have learned, they still find themselves working hard for the emotion. Or they do not feel comfortable or able to deliver, take after take, especially when the scene involves intense emotions. And sometimes when they have to push like that, they fake it to make it.

Maybe you’re experiencing this too.

I understand how frustrating this can be. You have so much hard work under your belt, and yet you’re plateauing at a place where you're unable to consistently be free and alive. You want to be 100% instinctive, but it’s just not happening. And it can create a lot of anxiety too.

You’re in a big audition, and you might have three different people ask you for three different things or a casting director will give you directions that don't really work or aren’t coming from the positive energy that you expect. Worry starts to creep in that you won’t be able to deliver professionally, and boom - you’re now stuck in your head and out of the moment.

So there's a mismatch between all the work you’ve been putting in and how able you are to deliver the results that are expected.

Part of the problem may lie with how you see yourself - as an actor or an artist.

When you watch my free training, you’ll discover…

  1. Acting is the art of being FULLY ALIVE - not the art of being super trained. No one needs to teach you how to be real and present; it’s innate, but you have just been conditioned to deny the instinctive nature you were born with. And, it’s possible to unlearn that conditioning and reset your instrument to its factory settings. 😉… Mother nature’s in other words...

  2. Most actors think, “If I'm an actor, it's an art. So I can't be an actor without being an artist. I have to be both,” but the distinction between the two is important. In fact, there’s a golden nugget of power inside this seemingly small difference. I’ll explain what that is in the training.

  3. When your instrument is completely and consistently free - free from trying to get it right, trying to deduce what other people are looking for, trying to please anyone - then you will see a shift in your impact. When you can go into the audition and do what you have in your heart and soul, and not care whether they like it or not because you have something to say, there is no alternative to that.

  4. When people see you’re able to BE, they want it because no one dares to do that. No one really dares to be REALout there and to put their guts on the table and say, “This is how this feels for me. This is what I have to say.” That is so vibrantly alive! That is so rare. It's just HOT. And it leads to booking more work.

Watch the training below now.

Then I want you to think about your last three auditions and honestly check in with yourself to determine if you were in the room as an actor or as an artist? Did you come in with something to say and able to be purely you, no matter what you felt? Or where are you being a polished performer or trying to be a good actor?

Let me know the result by posting in our private Facebook Group. Tell me how those auditions felt. Tell me how it impacted your audience or the audition room, and let's take it from there. And maybe in the next three auditions, go from an artistic perspective and see how that makes a difference.

If you’re not already a member, be sure to request to join ASAP. You’ll also get access to more videos and resources, and connect with more than a THOUSAND like-minded actors across the globe.
