Helpful Tip for the Entrepreneurial Actor in 2020
Your name is your brand.
It’s as simple as that.
In the age of technology, actors are their own agents, managers, and publicists. You have more control over your brand than any other generation of actors before you. Everything you post online is part of your brand, it’s associated with your name.
Why am I telling you this?
If you don’t have control of what you put out there – then good luck. If you aren’t putting your best foot forward everyday – then good luck. If you will not exercise discipline – then good luck to you, my friend.
Your IG (Instagram) is part of your brand. Put you best foot forward. Your Twitter is part of your brand. Put your best thoughts forward. Your Facebook or LinkedIn is part of your brand. Put your best face forward.
If you don’t have a website yet – then good luck. The website portfolio is a must. Online portfolios are the new headshots. They are Headshots 2.0.
And they are so much better than a paper picture that you hand over (yes, this is how it was done back in the day).
The website can be personalized, made glamorous, made tough, strong, ethereal, etc. You can make it whatever you want to show the world. For anyone who is interested in learning about you, the person, the actor, will learn what you want them to know.
Casting Directors, Agents, Producers, Directors, Studio Execs, they look at your brand. Show them your best side. Every. Time.
