ARE YOU OVERTHINKING WHEN YOU ACT?

Today we’re gonna talk about overthinking. 💭 A lot of actors get caught up in overthinking when act, especially when they really want the role. Sometimes it happens after the audition or shoot.

Regardless it’s so much mental garbage- its toxic. Once you start overthinking, you’re not listening anymore. You’re not in the moment anymore and you’re not being. And acting is the art of being ALIVE.

So why is this happening? When you watch my training below you'll discover that overthinking is actually a symptom of a real problem- you want to get it “right” or “perfect”. You overthink because you’re trying to influence the result and manipulate the outcome. 😨

When you were a kid and playing, you never thought “how should I play this?” or “what’s the right way to do this?” because you were so interested in the life of the character you were playing. You were obsessed with living it. You weren’t preoccupied with how good you were or what other people thought.

As a kid you were instinctive and had all this freedom and then as you grew up you were conditioned by school, society, your parents etc that taught you there was a proper way to behave or think. Inevitably that carried throughout your life and into your acting and you figured you should “think” your way through your character.

But acting is about living not thinking. Actors don’t try to be interestING. Instead they’re interestED in the experience. They’re scratching their heads looking for a way to be interesting! This is not authentic and not present! And it’s not blissful for the actor or thrilling to the audience.

Your system is wired to think, so you think. 💭 If you want to not go down that tunnel anymore then its time to undo that conditioning.
